Judy Dench rocks, Judith! I’m also a big fan of Helen Mirren. Her character in the RED franchise was a hoot.

Glad you enjoyed Violet’s story. I can honestly tell you that she didn’t exist in my brain until yesterday. With another 100 or so words, I may be able to layer in some information about her killing him and the getaway.

Will see what my beta reader thinks.

    Thanks!

Thank you for your feedback, Ebony!

The idea was to show that Trenton was a contract killer and that Violet was his “mark.” Maybe he has taken a contract on her life or maybe she did something wrong in her past that made him angry, I couldn’t really delve into that with the length constraints.

The story alluded to Violet’s dark past, which was as an assassin. Samson was another assassin that she knew from back then.

    Glad you enjoyed it ๐Ÿ™‚

    Honestly, my audience is me.

By extension, I’m looking to attract readers who have similar tastes, experiences, dreams, and obstacles that I have faced before or am dealing with now.

When I lose sight of what I think is a good story or I like to write and try to focus on someone else, I get lost.

    Thanks!

I’m taking this course for a variety of reasons, some mentioned above and others that aren’t.

The biggest two reasons are to get these stories out of my head (finally) and to have accountability to keep my momentum going to self-publish my own work. I’d also like to build a writing career that can help support my other creative and coaching endeavors.

Books climb and fall off the charts, but I’d like to write something that inspires others to become more fully themselves, take chances, and to pursue a career in writing if that is their dream.

    Thanks!

    Elise,

Let me preface this by saying that I’m not a zombie person and honestly avoid most things zombie-related (except the movie Warm Bodies, which was cute in a way).

You had me hooked from the beginning and kept really good pacing throughout the story. There is a good mix of show and tell. Instead of telling me the zombie is strong, you have him break free of his bonds in the back of the truck. Kudos for that.

I was a bit confused by some of the action when Bob is attacking the zombie hunters and had to read several of the sentences multiple times to figure out what was happening. I think this has to do with his inner thoughts not being designated in some manner. I usually use italics.

While it was a bit too gory for my personal taste, I thought it was well-written and a huge leap in the right direction.

    Thanks!

    Ebony,

Great first story! The comparison of the making of pancakes to living your life on your own terms was genius. I also like how you wrapped everything up into a nice complete package, making your point and then tying it back to the pancake story from the beginning.

I would have liked to see some varied paragraph structure to make the story more readable (smaller chunks of text). What you have here is a bit dense.

    Again, great work!

    Thanks!

Just remembered that I have some of my flash fiction posted on Wattpad. No romance there, but more dark urban fantasy. I was going through a phase lol
