Alas! Another fan! Hi, LoriMarie. Pleasure to meet you. ๐ I agree with everything you said. I love that each episode has a theme; I love the sets and design, and I love the characters! I also love studying the 1960s as a decade. I used to teach music history, and the music of the 60s was one of my favorite units. I love the soundtracks to each episode because the songs stay true to the years in which the episodes take place. Superb!

Hmm. I wish I could help you, Margie. I’m able to change mine through my wordpress public profile. Do you have any local wordpress peeps who can take it look at it for you?

I haven’t been to Disney World. I have to plan a trip soon. And yes, it’s totally cool to admit that publicly. ๐

Great point, Sunny. I think it depends on the story and narrative. First and second person narratives tend to sound better in the present tense to me. Third person narrative can go either way. When I try to imagine Harry Potter written in the present tense, I’m not sure I would have enjoyed it as much. Gone Girl does a good job of harmonizing both present and past tense. It’s written in first person; Nick’s voice is in the past tense, and Amy’s voice is in the present tense. That format works well with the story.

I missed it too. I was at work. :\

I think my love for the show is tied to my love of classic film, history, pop culture. Or maybe I feel a connection because I’ve dated too many men like Don Draper. :p In all seriousness, Mad Men does a great job of dramatizing the art of advertising and copywriting in the 1960s. These mad men have to write stories to sell products, and watching them do that fascinates me. Yes, there’s a lot of sexism and racism, cheating husbands and cheating wives. But it feels so authentic. I appreciate its honesty. ๐
