    Brian,

    Your story scared me.

    Write some more immediately.

Pay attention to punctuation. It actually does something.

    Hello, Amanda,

I’m new to fiction, too. I’ve been an editor most of my life, which I would have said disqualifies me from writing fiction. Wrong! I’m having a great time.

Looking forward to reading what you write.

    Sunny,

Reading this was terribly frustrating. I want the backstory!!!

I was a little surprised to find out the narrator was male, although if he had been a jumper jock on the pro circuit, I guess he’d most likely be male.

I loved his breakdown in his horse’s old stall, and I REALLY loved Tarantella’s charge.

Anyway, please give us some more of this story. How much is written already?

    Mirel,

Loved the story, especially the lone little tear. Papa’s Henderson didn’t bother me. Neither did whiz. I was caught up in the story. But I’m a little lost about how Mama Bat’s words helped Little Bat forget about being hungry and go to sleep. My Little Bat would not have been swayed.

I totally agree it would make a sweet picture book.

    Thanks for posting it.

    Mirel,

Thanks for your comments. They bring up facets of story writing I hadn’t considered before. I’m new to this comment/critique thing and am still learning how to process it. I’ll reread the story and try again.

    Susan,

Here I am again, the course’s most IT challenged participant. Every time I tried to copy your blog details, I got knocked back by google. Could you send me a link? I’d really like to read it.

    Thank you Katie,

You comments are very helpful. I’ll reread the stories and have a good think about how to make them work better.

I really appreciate you taking the time to read them.

    Hi, Susan,

Third time pays for all. I’m sure you’ll get through the course this time.

Life seems to be overtaking me,too, so I can understand how you feel. If I can just he through these interview assignments (problematical) I may just make it to the next rule.

Looking forward to getting to know you better.

    Mirel,

Pleased to meet you. Although I’m just starting out, I guess I write for the same reasons you do. It keeps me happy.

I’d love to read some of your work.

    Judith
