I would highly recommend sending stuff into contests, if for no other reason that it’s a process that has a defined timeline and perhaps even opportunities for feedback from a fresh set of eyes. Plus I’m one of those poor saps who craves validation; if you are, too, all the more reason to give it a shot.

Thank you! I wouldn’t have written a short story at all if it hadn’t been for the course, and now I’m looking at another couple of contests to try my luck further.
