It’s Daniel! π
I really enjoyed the story, Sunny. I agree with the rest that his personality really shines through his voice, and I think your word usage and colorful names helped achieve this.
As for improvements, I agree with Ann in that it probably would be more interesting if Daniel put up with the struggle a little bit longer before caving in to his mom’s idea of going to Camp Bigfoot.
But overall, you’ve done a fantastic job! I can sense a sequel in the making, unless that’s in the works already.

I too am interested in the Kickstarter platform and was actually considering creating a campaign for my first project. I’m just not sure if people would be willing to support it or if they would use the site to do so, especially those from my local community since Kickstarter only accepts USD contributions.

Hi Kate! It’s great to have you as a classmate this year. J. K. Rowling’s a favorite of mine as well. I still have the first edition of the Sorcerer’s Stone with me and I protect it with my life! π
Besides HP, I enjoy reading Ursula Le Guin, Gabriela Garcia Marquez, Isabel Allende, Laura Esquivel, and the poetry of Singaporean poet Alvin Pang and ecopoet Gary Snyder.
Looking forward to reading your work!

Hi Juanita,
First off, congrats on completing the first exercise and sharing your story! Here are my comments:
- Your story was easy to follow through thanks to the smooth transition of scenes. Didn’t feel lost in the conversation at all. This could actually turn into a children’s book.
- I like the twist at the end where the parents gave him a train ticket instead of a train set. I wish my parents were that creative and adventurous.
- The work still needs to be proofread and edited. For example, the line “I donβt need any more train stuff and besides my room has become too small to set up the tracks and the little town the train ran through.” is supposed to be Jason thinking to himself, but it wasn’t clear as it was written as a standalone sentence.
Overall, great job and keep on writing. π

Thanks Yvette! Where do you live? Let’s keep in touch! π
I feel the same way towards works of other genres, especially drama. Never fails to amaze me.

Hi LoriMarie and thank you very much! That’s a win for me considering I’m terrible with headlines when writing blog posts.
On my wishlist is Mark Strand’s and Eavan Boland’s The Making of a Poem to help further my knowledge about the different verse forms. It’s quite intimidating to actually sit down and write according to the traditions, so I’m still a work in progress. π
Looking forward to learning with you this year!

Of course they will! π Glad you got it all sorted out. Love the profile photo!

Hi Elisabeth! My thoughts exactly, and so I admire fiction writers who are able to write and finish novels and short story collections. It’s no easy feat!
Glad to meet another poet in the Story Cartel! Looking forward to working with you and reading your work. π

Thank you as well Margie for the warm welcome!
I’ve always believed in the importance and power of one’s passion for something. We all need to have something we truly desire and are willing to strive for. It’s what keeps us up at night and gets us out of bed in the morning.
I visited your blog by the way and am happy for you and how you’re able to publish your book, The Beader’s Guide to Jewelry Design. Congratulations! π
