Do you have a Gravatar profile? Story Cartel is built on WordPress and user profiles are usually defined and linked through Gravatar. Just create one (if you don’t have one), upload a profile photo and link it to the email you used to sign up for the course. ๐

Now that’s an intro! ๐
Welcome to the course Jody! Looking forward to reading your work.

Hi Ebony! It’s nice to meet you. I’m glad that you’re able to find your passion through your work as an English teacher. I can honestly say that my “coming out” as a writer happened when I shifted BA courses (from Media/Communication Arts to Literature) and learned under some of the greatest professors in the Philippines.
Looking forward to writing and learning with you! ๐

Hi Yvette! It’s good to “meet” you. The best of luck to your YA novel and I look forward to reading it. I’m a huge fan of YA and will probably never get tired of reading the genre, no matter how old I get. ๐

Hi Chase and welcome!
I’m looking forward to receiving feedback for my work as well. It’s a little intimidating, but necessary if we all want to take things to the next level.

Hi Paloma and welcome! Your background is certainly rich with material that you can use for creative work. I’ve always admired historical fiction for the richness of its research and how authors are able to weave their stories skilfully. Looking forward to reading your work!

Hi Lee, welcome back. I’m sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. Totally understandable that you had to step back from the course at that time. I look forward to reading your work!

Glad to begin my journey with you as a fellow classmate, Audrey! Do you have a website where we can access your work?
See you around the forums!

Hey Scott,
I’m sure you’ll be able to get those stories onto the page with the help of the community here. Looking forward to reading your work! ๐

James, it’s great to meet you! I read about your work and Sky Writers over at the Story Cartel page. ๐
I envy you for being surrounded by animals! I’m working on an animal poetry collection and so would always seek out the animal presence whenever possible. For now, it’s with my working Cocker Spaniel, Sappho.
Looking forward to learning from you, a Story Cartel alumni!

Hey Judith,
Love your determination to get back up on your feet and finally get your writing out into the world! It’s great to have you as a fellow Cartelista and I look forward to reading your work and that of the rest of the community.
By the way, I love horses too, though the opportunity to be with them is scarce where I live. I hope the accident hasn’t tarnished your love for them.

Hi Lee and thank you so much! I’ve always loved animals and have even aspired to become a veterinarian during my high school days.
Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. But I believe the power of the pen can create just as much change and service to animals, hence my determination to finish what I’ve started a year ago.
Looking forward to sharing my work with you!
P. S. Thank you as well for the kind compliments about my photo. You got me blushing; it isn’t everyday that I’m able to take a good photo of myself. ๐

It’s very sad! With my second baby, I was stuck in my station for three whole days doing nothing but stare at the ceiling, receive medications, listen to the fetal monitor, and watch nurses and doctors walk in and out.
I wasn’t allowed to have my husband with me, my own mother, my mobile phone, zip. It was very traumatising!
I’ll be sure to leave my review once I finish your book. ๐

“Year of the Writer” โ I love it! ๐

Hi Sunny! Welcome back and I’m really glad you’ll be joining the community a second time. I actually downloaded Daniel the Draw-er this morning and have just started reading. I’m liking it already! Congratulations. ๐
I’m familiar with the work of a doula, and it’s unfortunate the role isn’t common where I live (Philippines). Expectant mothers are either left alone in their “cellars” inside the labor room while waiting for their babies to arrive or have their family members by their side (only allowed in a select few hospitals).
Looking forward to learning from you!
