Choose a Story (exercise)

In this unit, we’re focusing on the editing process. To get practice with the concepts we will cover, you’ll need a story that you’ve written to edit.

This story might be a work in progress or one that you finished long ago but want to rework. You’re welcome to use a short story or a chapter from a novel.

Your Assignment

Go ahead and spend some time looking for the story you will edit this week.

Whichever story you choose, make sure it is self-contained. It should has a clear beginning and end, and you should be able share it with someone without giving a lot of backstory.

Your story should be at least 1,000 words long, and I recommend choosing something around 3,000 to 5,000 words.
